Messages of Gratitude and Congratulations from British Columbia on Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee

As an immigrant and proud Canadian, I am grateful to Your Majesty for showing the world, especially our — and your children, how a monarch can be good and gracious in spite of temptations – Susan Lindenberger

Congratulations for 70 years service! Mike Tyldesley

Your Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, you have been steadfast in your duty to yours and all the Commonwealth countries, carrying out those duties with dignity and poise, even under the most trying circumstances. My Mom Geraldine Wray, who passed in September 2018, was a true Monarchist and so proud, as are we, to call you our Queen. I know she would have written you, as she sometimes did (and always appreciated your responses), to express her best wishes, as do we, on your birthday and the years ahead for good health and happiness – Jackie Brown

Your Majesty, I was awestruck 70 years ago to watch your coronation as Queen at a local movie theatre. Now, years later, I am pleased to congratulate you on your 70th anniversary of becoming our monarch. May God continue to bless our Queen! Sherryl McKenzie

Speaking to Prince Philip in 1958: My brother called the Hotel Vancouver where the Queen and Prince were staying. He asked for the Queen and was put through and Prince Philip picked up. I was listening on the extension. He welcomed them to Vancouver. The Prince was very polite and positive. The next day we were in front of the New Westminster city hall when they did a walkabout. I was there with my brother and when the Prince got close he yelled out that he was the boy who spoke to him the night before. He stopped and spoke to him and then left to catch up to the Queen. My brother was 9 and I was 10 – Brian Kenny

I just wanted to say that I’m so grateful that this initiative has been started. I am a proud Canadian and monarchist and feel blessed to be living at a time where we can experience the Platinum Jubilee of our wonderful Queen – Stacy Campbell

Long live the Queen! Monica Macdonald

For 70 years you have dedicated your life to serving as our Queen through good times and bad with such graciousness and wisdom. As a Canadian senior, I have been interested in and followed Royal news all my life and I want you to know how much I care and appreciate you – Carrie Beavington

I was honoured to welcome Her Majesty and Prince Phillip in 1971 at a dinner in honour of British Columbia’s 100th anniversary. I remember how warmly she and the prince treated us and relaxed us. Though this connection only lasted a few minutes, I remember and treasure it still today. – Harry Price, Burnaby, BC

Dear Queen Elizabeth II: I was raised by my grandmother, Mary Roberta Knox Mather Cooper, to respect our Royal Family. From a very early age I was an avid follower of You and Your family. I must clarify how important your stay fast personality and strength have been to me, and now in my 70’s hope to model my thoughts and participation in hobbies after You. Greetings from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, where I now my reside. Came to Canada in 1987 from Hong Kong. First at-a-distant contact with Her Majesty and Prince Philip was in May 1975 in Hong Kong—the first Royal visit to Hong Kong. Then, in the civil service at the HK Government Secretariat, I was one of the role players in the rehearsal party, role playing receiving Her Majesty and Prince Philip at plane side before the actual Royal visit. At the Royal visit, and only as a member of the working party for the Royal visit, I could only see Her Majesty at a distance. But deeply impressed by Her Majesty’s elegance, pleasant smiles, and her devotion to services. In Canada, I am engaged in promoting bilateral trade between Canada and Hong Kong. Very thankful, by virtual my contribution in this role, I was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. And that was the second of my closest interactions relating to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. All that said, I am here to pay tribute to Her Majesty for her 70-year long devotion and commitment to her role and for our well-being. Thanks also to you, the dedicated British Columbians, for starting this website, providing a platform for us to express our appreciation to Her Majesty. Long Live the Queen! Catherine Yuen, QDJM recipient

Congratulations on Your 70th Platinum Jubilee Queen Elizabeth. I grew up knowing that my parents were at a movie theater in Vancouver, BC 70 years ago today and the movie stopped to share that Your Dad had passed and You were now our Queen. Thank You for Your inspiration, kindness, so much of Your time and Yourself. You have done so much to make our world a better place. With best wishes for great days everyday – Diane Gillis

Madam, I would like to express my congratulations and heartfelt gratitude for your 70 years of service. When I was 20, I had the good fortune to be working at the EFC gate in Calgary for your visit in 1990, as well as that of Prince Philip in 1992. It was an honor to be present as you were received, and those events had a profound effect on my growth as it prompted me to learn more about the Monarchy and its role in Canada. I have the honor to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant in Canada – Ronald Glen Johnston

Her Majesty is the personification of the Canadian state. She has through many visits represented us to ourselves, she has always been at home with us. She has inspired us and commiserated with us. She has never talked down to us. She has always accepted our gifts and our greetings with warmth and grace. She understands us and encourages us to aspire to be our best and at the same time to honour us individually regardless of our station in life. Her steady presence and calm demeanour is an enduring gift of certainty and a recognition of what we as citizens have accomplished. She made a very important promise to us to dedicate her life to service. She has done that and all of us are the better for it. God save the Queen! – Craig Strickland
